FlowWell
What I use

The short list of things that actually worked.

I went through most of the laxative aisle at Walmart before I found anything that helped. These are the things I use or get asked about most, and the honest reason each one is on the list — including where it didn't work for me.

Some of the links below are affiliate links, which means I earn a commission if you buy through them at no extra cost to you. I've used everything on this page. Nothing here is on this list because a company paid to be included, and I'm not a doctor — check with your prescriber before adding anything.

The one that worked

Emma Gut Health

This is the one I'd tell a friend about first. I'd gone almost two weeks without a normal bowel movement, my doctor had already mentioned the emergency room, and I'd spent real money on fiber powders and laxatives that did nothing. I found Emma in a Facebook group of people going through the same thing on GLP-1s.

Day five was when it worked. Not day one — I want to be straight about that, because if I'd quit on day three I'd have missed it. It's still part of my daily routine four months later, which is more than I can say for anything else I bought during that stretch.

Worth knowing: it's a daily supplement, not a rescue laxative. If you're in an acute situation, that's a call for your doctor, not a bottle.

Nutrition

SoWell Daily Nutrition

Losing the weight was only half of it. The other half was figuring out what to eat when your appetite is gone. I was eating too little protein, almost no fiber, and crashing by early afternoon — and I didn't connect any of that to how I felt until much later.

SoWell is where I ended up because the electrolyte, protein, and fiber formulations are built for people eating far less than they used to. When you're only getting through a small amount of food a day, what's in it matters a lot more than it used to.

Worth knowing: this solves the nutrition gap, not constipation directly. Fixing my protein and fiber made everything else easier, but it wasn't the thing that got me moving again.

How I started

LevelsRx

This is the provider the nurse pointed me to from the back seat of my car. I'd assumed GLP-1 medications were something only wealthy people had access to, and I was wrong about that — which is the single most useful thing anyone told me that year.

I'm listing them because they're where I actually started, at 246 pounds, and I'm 42 pounds down from there. It's clinician-guided, which mattered to me — I wanted someone reviewing this, not a checkout page.

Worth knowing: this is a prescriber, so what you're signing up for is a medical evaluation. If you already have a provider you like, stay with them.

Supplements are the smaller half of this.

What order to take things in, when to take them, what to eat around them, and the point where you should stop experimenting and call your doctor — that's the guide.
